About Me

get to know me a little better

Hi, my name is Andy Nguyen. ND for short.

Yeah just take the “A” out of my first name or try to pronounce my first name like a 2 year old would attempt to and you got it. The cute little nickname “ND M.D.” came from one of my closest friends when she found out I got into a BS/MD program my senior year of high school. Even though that “M.D.” tacked onto my name seemed embarrassingly premature for 17 year old me, it was a nickname that continued to resonate with me throughout my college years and now even more so as I begin my medical training journey. That name, I began to realize, means so much: enormous support from my friends and family for what I am passionate about, the pursuit of goals that far surpass my current imagination, and the reassurance that hard work and faith will one day make that M.D. sound a little less foreign to me.

I am an incoming Anesthesiology Resident Doctor at Yale and recent graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. I am an Augusta native but am now based in Georgia, Connecticut, and New York. I have been a freelance photographer/videographer since my junior year of high school and have found digital media creation one of the most powerful ways to share stories and experiences…and a way for me to keep me sane in between the mountains of studying I have to do.

My goal is to help you share your vision and stories through photography/videography as well as to showcase a more personal side of medical professionals that the world rarely sees. As a kid, I looked up to medical students and healthcare professionals, constantly wondering what it would be like to be in their shoes. Now that I am here, I want to help encourage and motivate the next generation of healthcare workers and healthcare creatives through my creative work and personal lessons. Whether you are here for the medical blog posts/podcasts, to check out my photography, or came here from my YouTube videos, thank you!

Follow me on this journey through medical training, and hopefully you can learn just as much as I do along the way. Or better yet…reach out to work with me and become part of my journey!
